At first glance, it all seems simple, yet many people fail to grasp these basics.
1) When walking on the sidewalk, always stay to the right—not in the middle or on the left. Why play a game of dodge-and-weave with people coming the other way?
2) Let people exit a building before you enter. This applies even if you are a man and a woman is entering. It is especially relevant in shops: you might be trying to leave with heavy bags through a narrow entryway, while people rush inside as if they’ve lost their minds. The result is crowding and frustration.
3) If you are taking public transport, don't stand there gaping. Have your coins, a banknote, or your card ready beforehand. What is the point of rummaging through your bag while standing in a crowd and bumping into other passengers?
4) You should smoke at least 15 meters away from a bus stop, not right at it. And certainly, don't smoke while boarding the bus. It is particularly annoying when someone takes three to five rapid puffs—as if cigarettes were about to go extinct—and then steps onto the bus while exhaling smoke.
5) You shouldn't talk loudly on the phone while on public transport or out on the street. Likewise, avoid listening to music or watching videos with the sound on.
